Active ingredients:

FENOBUCARB 425 g/L + IMIDACLOPRID 35 g/L

Formulation:

EC (Emulsifiable Concentrate) – oil-based emulsifiable formulation

Uses:

Specialized for controlling brown planthopper on rice, …

Target crops:

Various crop species

1. How to Use the Insecticide

Application rate

Depending on crop and pest pressure, the typical dosage is:

  • 0.5 – 1.0 L/ha

  • Recommended mixing rate: ~20–30 ml per 25-L knapsack sprayer (refer to product label)

Timing of application

  • Spray when early-instar larvae (1st–2nd instar) are detected,

or when pest population begins to increase.

  • Early spraying ensures optimal efficacy.

Spraying technique

  • Spray thoroughly on stems, leaves, and especially the underside of leaves (where pests hide).

  • Do not spray before rain or during strong winds.

  • Recommended spray volume: 400–600 L/ha.

Safety precautions

  • Wear protective clothing, gloves, mask.

  • Avoid contact with skin and prevent contamination of household water sources.

2. Technical Information on Fenobucarb + Imidacloprid

Fenobucarb (BPMC) – 425 g/L

  • Chemical group: Carbamate

  • Mode of action: Contact and stomach poison, fast-acting

  • Controls: Brown planthopper, leafhoppers, and several sucking insects

Imidacloprid – 35 g/L

  • Chemical group: Neonicotinoid

  • Mode of action: Systemic, contact, and stomach poison

  • Strongly effective against:

    • Brown planthopper

    • Green leafhopper

    • Thrips

    • Aphids

Advantages of the combination

  • Fast knockdown + long-lasting residual effect

  • Controls both adults and nymphs

  • Reduces risk of resistance due to different modes of action

3. Benefits of Fenobucarb + Imidacloprid Insecticide

Rapid knockdown – complete elimination

  • Fenobucarb provides quick action within hours.

  • Imidacloprid’s systemic movement kills hidden insects under the leaves.

Long residual control

  • Protects crops for 7–14 days, reducing reinfestation.

Helps reduce the risk of virus transmission

  • Lower pest density → reduced chance of rice virus spread (e.g., grassy stunt, ragged stunt).

Rainfastness

  • Imidacloprid’s systemic nature reduces washing off.

Crop safety

  • Safe for rice when used as recommended.

  • Does not cause leaf burn or phytotoxicity.

4. Mode of Action

Fenobucarb – Cholinesterase Inhibitor

  • Disrupts nerve transmission.

  • Causes paralysis and rapid death.

  • Strong contact effect → immediate action.

Imidacloprid – Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor (nAChR) Agonist

  • Binds to insect nerve receptors.

  • Disrupts nerve signaling → continuous feeding → death.

  • Systemically translocated to new plant tissues.

Combined effect

  • Fenobucarb: fast knockdown

  • Imidacloprid: thorough and long-lasting control

→ Provides superior efficacy and lowers resistance development.

Safety Precautions When Using Insecticides

  • Keep out of reach of children.

  • Do NOT eat, drink, or smoke while handling the product; do not store the product together with food or beverages.

  • When handling the pesticide:

Avoid inhalation and prevent contact with eyes, nose, and skin.
